We wanted to differentiate the SnapScan brand in the crowded fintech landscape by infusing it with a sense of playfulness, vibrancy, and excitement.

Meet Snappy!
In the pursuit of fostering a lighthearted atmosphere for SnapScan, we created an animated mascot for their device. From the SnapScan logo, we quickly uncovered a friendly face from the three dots nestled within the circular design. This gave birth to "Snappy." Our aim for Snappy was to fashion a character that had an overly enthusiastic persona to effectively convey the message that he loves the process of payment processing.

By creating the rainbow in this abstract form, we unlocked a plethora of creative possibilities.

Rainbow
To embody the theme of a "rainbow" while maintaining a technological edge, we opted to reimagine the rainbow as an abstract trail composed of deconstructed elements from a credit card. This approach allowed us to merge the whimsy of a rainbow with the sophistication of payment technology.

To infuse a spirit of enjoyment and anticipation into this project, SnapScan introduced the concept of "confetti" as a theme.

Confetti
We conceived a novel approach: reimagining confetti as an abstract burst of shapes and icons that directly align with SnapScan's brand identity. These dynamic elements serve as floating secondary components, responding to the device's movements and breathing life into every scene. The creation of these particles was a result of a combination of Houdini simulations and animations in Maya.

What we achieved in the end was a lighthearted 20-second spot that built a sense of anticipation and excitement throughout. Good, clean, fun!

Our project's culmination yielded a 20-second animated spot, utilizing fast mid-motion cuts to connect key moments. This approach not only maintained an engaging pace but also built a sense of anticipation between big moments. Our character “Snappy” was contained within the digital screen of the device, and we exercised restraint in the application of bends and warps to the device itself. This allowed the device to convey solidity and reliability while affording Snappy the freedom to infuse the overall piece with a playful and lighthearted vibe.
